One of the reasons Twitter has exploded these last few months is the interest celebreties have shown it. There has been many high profile celeb’s tweeting about run of the mill day to day stuff, but command thousands of followers.  For the first time ordinary people can update themselves on what their favorite celeb is doing almost on a personel level.

Where To Start

Twitter can be very confusing from the offset, alot of people will be used to Myspace, Facebook and various other social networking websites that are self explanitory. Twitter is so basic its untrue and I am going to show some tips to get more from Twitter you could even end up making money from it.  If you are a Facebook fanatic then why not link both together, you can install the twitter application on Facebook check the App out here. If you are using twitter to follow celebs then you can quickly see if they are tweeting by having a look at http://www.celebritytweet.com.

Keep Your Finger On the Pulse

Twitter is a fantastic place to to keep up with what is going on, but where do you start? As you get more followers it can be quite confusing at times with thousands of updates each day they can can all seem to merge into one. Here is a lovely little website that can give you the edge on whats hot http://www.twitscoop.com it constantly provides a breakdown of both keywords and hot trends. While I am talking about keywords here is a great way to keyword your own tweets. What you can do is add the hash symbol and the keyword for example `#today.com’, people would be able to search for that specific term via the hashtags website http://www.hashtags.org or by using twitters own search engine.

Different Interface

Using twitter as it comes straight out of the box, works just fine but there is a better free interface available to let you tweet form your Desktop. This is a very popular app and you of might of heard of it, or you are using it yourself at the moment. It is called tweetdeck and as I said runs from your desktop and it helps seperate the main stream of your tweets from the @ replies and direct messages. It boosts some fantastic features and can be only fully appreciated by using it. You can find it here at http://www.tweetdeck.com.

Add Pictures To Tweets

With only allowing 140-character limit tweets pictures can go a long way and will help you stick out from the crowd. There are a few ways you can do this, the first is http://www.twitpic.com it allows you to post pictures from the web, your computer and even your phone. Your tweet deck has this functionality built in so is even more easier to use.I hope these tips will help you to get started on twitter and gain the most from your account.
